Thomas and Friends Restored Version (the differences)

For some reason, when the first 3 seasons of Thomas and Friends were released on DVD in their restored format, not only is the footage cleaned up and brightened, but some of the episodes have minor differences.

First off, we have this image of Sir Topham Hatt from the episode, "Old Iron". This is how it originally looked.

For some reason, in the restored version, the background has been blacked out! I, for one, would like to know what happened here.

For some reason, the restored version of "A Close Shave" removes this shot in the sequence of the barber putting shaving cream on Duck.

In the original version of "Break Van", Douglas' nameplate was blacked out in order to hide the fact that the modelers had already put it on.

The censor bar is removed for the restored version.

Other shot were zoomed in to hide the nameplate.

The full, uncropped image is shown in the restored version.
